Default Getting the most out of Henchies?

Ok, I have tried to do a simple quest with the henchmen and everyone died, including myself. I am a lvl 18 (almost 19) warrior/ranger and this quest is Reversing the Skale. I found that by porting to Gates of Kryta and beginning the mission there I am much closer to the destination.

My problem seems to be that I don't know how to handle the way the henchmen behave. They do not understand the concept of pulling, so if I walk forward and barely aggro a small group then back up, the fighter rushes forward and starts attacking. So should I leave him to die? Or should I rush forward and help him, thereby increasing my aggro circle which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place. No matter how I try to setup the battle we end up getting ganked by multiple mobs because the stupid henchmen start fireballing or aggro'ing outside of the safe circle.. at least that has been my observation.

Any tips from those of you who travel almost exclusively with henchmen?

Here`s what I do: If you notice when you stop your henchmen will form a circle around you. So I stop a comfortable distance from the group. Now run back till your henchmen start running, then turn and run toward the group just far enough to aggro a small number and immediately turn and run back farther than the place you stopped in the first place. If for some reason you aggro too many you can either kill all you can and sprint to heal then come res your group or try running way back and hope some of the group you resed falls back.

Of course I play a W/Mo so these tactics work for me.......sometimes.

First henchies won't attack until you do or something attacks them. So to pull you need to move until your agro circle overlaps the mob and then pull back. Do not attack even with a bow. You will still pull the mob back some but not as far as playing with other players. Keep moving back even if the henchies start to fight. They will follow. Eventually. Sometimes. Pulling with henchies is not the easiest thing. Positioning has greater importance. Get an angle on that single mob that will let you pull it, the others will follow but you should be able to get to where you want to be before they arrive.

Sometimes it's easier to leave the warriors behind and take all the ranged/support henchmen since they don't rush in like that. Since you are a warrior this would probably be ok. Also, they will normally focus on your current target, so try not to switch around too much (which isn't too great for poisoners, like me)

Here is the tip for pulling with henchman groups: Use a longbow/flatbow no matter what class you are.

Ye, you can use a longbow for any classes, shoot and run back, henchmen won't rush in since the mob is not in their range. Now you know why I never bring the archer hench.
